Requirements:

• Significant experience in technical safety engineering, preferably gained through major project work within the oil and gas industry or through site operations support.
• BS or MS in Engineering or Advanced Science degree.
• Minimum 10 years oil and gas industry experience.
• Skilled or knowledgeable in technical safety risk assessment tools (such as HAZID, HAZOP, physical effects modeling an QRA).
• Good knowledge of engineering codes and standards such as ISO, API, NFPA and Energy Institute and their application in the oil and gas industry.

Shell Energy North America is seeking a senior level Short Term Natural Gas Analyst to join our North America Fundamental Analysis Team. This position is responsible for developing short to medium (1 to 5 year time horizon) term outlooks for AECO, Eastern Canada and US Midwest markets. The successful candidate will be responsible for generating Supply / Demand / Infrastructure views and extracting the essential components that ultimately influence prices. This role supports our trading side of the business with analysis developed from a deep understanding of the key supply / demand / infrastructure drivers. Shell Canada is currently seeking an Operations/Process Engineer - Sulfur Recovery and Utilities unit for our Scotford site near Edmonton, Alberta.

Responsibilities:

• The Operations Engineer is the focal point for daily technical assurance. 
• Daily process optimization to ensure the Sulfur Recovery complex is available at maximum capacity within the asset integrity limit and meeting current business plan and product quality is on specification. 
• Lead the Production Team,working closely with Operations, Maintenance, Inspection and the other Engineering disciplines to ensure thorough and complete communication and resolution of process issues to the team.
• Play an integral role in unit troubleshooting, taking the lead when necessary to facilitate problem resolution when the problem encountered is technical in nature and requires a Process Engineers knowledge and expertise.
• Play an active role in the identification of key process variables and in establishing safe upper and lower limits per the GAME ESP process. This should be done with input from Operations, Inspection and the various other engineering disciplines.
• Identify opportunities to improve unit safety, environmental performance, reliability and profitability.
• Develop those opportunities as resources allow, or escalate awareness of the opportunity and seek additional resources as appropriate. This work is done in conjunction with the site Management of Change (MOC) process.
• Works closely with the site business group in ensuring delivery of the business plan.
• Participate as necessary in unit PHAs, Bow Ties, and when appropriate, lead/implement MOC’s.
• Utilize Risk Based Decision Making skills in prioritizing work and communicating incentive to the Production Teams.
• Work closely and effectively with P&T Specialists and other discipline experts in resolving unit issues and/or progressing opportunities.
• Maintain proactive monitoring variables, trends, tools and overall unit proactive monitoring plan to facilitate performance of the ESP process. 
• Spend appropriate time in field in order to maintain good awareness of operating issues and concerns.
• Support for new project proposals for the unit assigned: initiation,pre-engineering work (feasibility, BOD, BDP), and BDEP support.
• Support Turnarounds
• Advise on process operating and start-up procedures.
• Investigate and/or support process incident investigations and Causal Learning.

Requirements:

• Must be eligible to work in Canada, on a full-time basis, for anyone other than their currently employer.
• This specific position is for the Operation engineering position supporting Sulfur Recovery and Utilities in PU4 and PU-2 at Scotford Upgrader.
• The candidate will have opportunity to rotate roles & responsibilities to other units typically every three to four years.
• There is no direct reports.
• The Process Engineering team consists of around 20 unit process and operations engineers supporting the various units associated with the Scotford Upgrader complex: crude distillation, LC Fining and hydrotreating, oil movement, utilities, effluent treatment, sulfur recovery and H2 manufacturing plants.
• Bachelor or Master degree in Chemical Engineering/Process Control Engineering required.
• Must be APEGGA certified  or eligible to certify. 
• Good knowledge of refining processes in general. 
• Strong communication skills are essential.
• Have the ability to cooperate with Shell Projects and Technology (P&T), the Shell Group as a whole and outside parties (clients, Engineering contractors, etc.). 
• Strong technical skills and the ability to perform in-depth problem solving.
• Proficient in the use of spreadsheets, computer and simulation models (i.e. Provision/Promote is the current site standard).
• Eight to 12 years experience in refining/chemical plant technology support.
• Background in Sulfur complex and Amine unit support.
• Additional consideration will be given to individuals with high vacuum unit experience.

• Support the Financial Controls Team Lead to ensure UA has an embedded effective financial control framework that provides reasonable assurance on achieving its objectives.
