Shell Canada is currently seeking Temporary Wells Supervisor-in-Training for Alberta / British Columbia (and various field locations).
Responsibilities:
The primary intent of the Projects and Technology ( P&T) Wells Drilling/Completion temporary training program is to provide interested individuals with the opportunity to learn about and participate in Shell’s Drilling and/or Completion field operations and to preview the lifestyle and work schedules required to be a successful Drilling or Completions Supervisor in Shell’s P&T Wells organization. This is a temporary assignment and there is no guarantee of permanent employment following the program.
Our supervisors are dispatched to our drilling and CWI sites all over Alberta and North East British Columbia. Candidate must be flexible and available to work at any of our field sites. Candidate must live in Alberta and North East British Columbia area.
During five (5) month program,individuals will be assigned to a Senior Supervisor,who will serve as that individual’s mentor for the duration of the training period. As a participant in its field program,you will work 14 days on,14 days off schedule
You are expected to adhere to all Health,Safety,Security and Environmental (HSSE) standards,as HSSE is critical to all aspects of Shell’s operations.
The Wells Supervisor in Training program is an opportunity to continue to develop your leadership and team skills,work with the latest technology,learn from experienced staff,become part of our safety culture and participate in Shell’s drilling and /or completion/well intervention field operations. - Participating in and conducting daily HSSE meetings and assessments to drive HSSE performance in the field.
- Planning,supervising and documenting well activities and driving performance in these activities without compromising HSSE.
- Tracking costs and managing budgets according to estimates.
- Well handovers/handbacks between Shell organizations.
- Implementation of new techniques and technologies.
- Interfacing with Shell engineering staff,Procurement,HSSE group, regulatory, internal Shell stakeholders and external contractors.
- North East BC ( Groundbirch)
- All of Alberta (Various plays for Conventional Gas and Unconventional oil and gas )

Requirements:
- In order to receive consideration for this program, candidates must have completed at minimum Technical Diploma from a Technical School similar to those listed below:
- Petroleum Technology
- Engineering Technology
- Construction Management
- Industrial Technology
- Physics/Hard Sciences
- Additionally candidates must have taken and earned a “B” or higher in college-level Algebra and have a cumulative
GPA of at least 2.8 on a 4.0 scale.
- Canadian Forces Personnel ranked as a Master Corporal/Seaman or higher or Lieutenant/Sub Lieutenant or higher with a technical or engineering background and leadership of small teams. A solid knowledge of Algebra is a must.
- Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer.
- Maximum of 5 years experience in the field, preferably in a drilling/completion operations environment and/or Canadian Forces.
- Solid experience demonstrating leadership skills is a must.
- Ability to use computer programs including email, Microsoft-related applications and some Shell-specific web-based programs.
- Prior work experience in an environment with formal safety policies/procedures.
- Willingness to fully embrace Shell’s Health, Safety, Security and Environmental (HSSE) policies and programs.
- Support Shell’s policy of a drug-free and harassment-free work. Must submit to and achieve satisfactory results on all background, medical and reference checks.
- Required to work a schedule that may include a brief period in an office environment and rotation in a field operations environment in remote locations.
- Willing to work outside in extreme seasonal weather conditions.
- Willing to work at heights, climb ladders/stairs and walk on high elevation grating as needed.
- Travel to/from home to work location prior to start and after end of each rotation.
- Shell will reimburse or provide all related travel and living expenses for each rotation.
Some accommodations will be Shell-provided housing where accommodation sharing is required and may be located on the well location. - Knowledge of the regulatory requirements for offshore and/or onshore drilling and completion operations is considered an asset
