Technical Skills Requirements
· Ability to work with others groups to design and implement distributed MySQL architecture that will support operational expectations.
· Three to four years experience supporting MySQL in a Linux/Unix environment.
· Expert knowledge of SQL and writing applications that use MySQL data sources.
· Methods and tools for rapidly exporting and importing to and from MySQL databases.
· Actively administered more than 4 production MySQL 5.0 servers in a high-traffic and distributed OLTP environment, with a mix of masters and slaves replication.
· Have written moderately complex Linux/Unix shell scripts utilizing bult-in shell variables, regular expressions, conditional expressions, functions.
· Working knowledge of Linux/Unix tools such as vi, su, ssh, bash/ksh/csh, perl/awk, snmp/monitoring, crontab, kickstart/netboot
· Strong knowledge and experiences in setting up and administered MySQL replication, Master/Slave and Master/Master. Ability to resolve replication delay and sychronization issues. Ability to design the process to automatically failover to one of the Slaves in the case of Master failure.
· Strong knowledge of MySQL backup, recovery and upgrade procedures.
· Experiences to use existing tools or develop scripts to monitor MySQL such as the health of the MySQL databases and replication delays.
· Strong knowledge of MySQL performance tuning at the MySQL server configuration level as well as SQL tuning.
· 24x7 production on-call support.
We do prefer:
· BSc in computer engineering or related field.
· Proven track experience in similar position.
· Appropriate Certifications are a plus.
Qualifications:
·3+ years experience as an instructor / consultant in the database field
·Excellent written and verbal communication skills
·Deep understanding of MySQL
·Language skills: C/C++ / Java / PHP/ Perl / Python
·Ability to handle multiple concurrent activities and have a flexible positive attitude
·Must be an experienced, motivated, self-starter who is willing to work in an entrepreneurial environment
·Significant travel is required (approximately 50%)
·Expertise with in-memory databases and other high-performance alternatives
·Working knowledge with other DBMS including Oracle RAC, Sybase, Informix, PostgreSQL, Pervasive, Times Ten and Caché is a plus
·Working knowledge of application and web servers such as WebLogic, WebSphere, JBoss, Apache Tomcat is a plus
·Working knowledge of J2EE/LAMP stacks (EJB, JSP, ASP, Servlets, JNDI, XML/XSL) to implement a distributed n-tier object system is a plus
·Experience under Windows, Linux, Solaris, UNIX
