Shell Canada is currently seeking a Pipeline and Pressure Equipment Inspector for our Cold Lake, AB location.
Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for executing the atmospheric tank, pressure equipment and pipeline integrity management program for the Cold Lake Assets 
  • Plan/direct/budget (within approved constraints) integrity inspection,mitigation and monitoring requirements 
  • Fulfill regulatory requirements (i.e. communication,documentation) re: equipment, piping and pipeline integrity management programs,inspections and repairs. 
  • Implement integrity management systems and processes. Includes VISIONS database, pipeline integrity management database, preparation of critical equipment, inspection data analysis and improvement recommendations. 
  • Troubleshoot failures and provide recommendations based on materials failure analysis and casual analysis. 
  • Perform maintenance and integrity quality assurance duties on assigned assets. 
  • Technical support to site operating and maintenance personnel   
  • Plan and participate in turnarounds and equipment inspections as required. 
  • Overtime and weekend work may be required to support the operations


Requirements:
  • Must have legal authorization to work in Canada on a full-time basis for anyone other than current employer
  • Diploma in Materials, Mechanical, Metallurgical, or Welding Engineering Technology from a recognized Institute. 
  • 5 years inspection experience with pipeline and pressure equipment 
  • Completed or working to achieve API 650/510/570 and ABSA PESL certification 
  • Inspection systems: VISIONS pressure equipment and pipeline integrity database 
  • Knowledge of ASME pressure piping & equipment and CSA Z662 pipeline industry standards 
  • Understanding of risk/criticality based inspection principles 
  • Ability to work closely with site operations, maintenance and technical personnel, as well as Calgary support groups, regulatory contacts, suppliers, and service companies. 
  • Knowledge of corrosion & inspection (eg. NDE), mitigation techniques, deterioration mechanisms, materials & coatings selection, failure analysis. 
  • Field and plant equipment process and mechanical knowledge 
  • Valid Class 5 driver's license
  • Basic understanding of fluid mechanics 
  • Planning/guidance of contract inspectors, NDE contractors and inspection clerk activities
  • Results orientated
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Team player
