Shell Canada is currently seeking a Control & Automation Coordinator  for our Fort St. John B.C. location.
Responsibilities:
The Control and Automation Coordinator is responsible for the safe,reliable,and cost effective functionality,maintenance,and technical issues for Control and Automation systems for the North East BC assets.

Accountabilities: 
  • Outline internal & external training requirements for operations and personnel on applicable C&A equipment and provide training as required. 
  • Ensure critical preventative maintenance programs (PM’s) are in place for all C&A equipment.
  • Advanced troubleshooting.
  • Provide approval of PI tag requests for the site
  • Systems Health Analysis (logs & stats)
  • Assist in selection of Instrumentation maintenance personnel.
  • Control and Automation Contractor Management
  • Provide input for turnaround/ project execution planning.
  • Compliance reporting assurance.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis (RCA’s).
  • Ensure required C&A system documentation maintained.
  • Spare equipment assessment/management
  • Management of Change (MOC) for site managed and executed C&A specific projects
  • Engage with multi discipline facility MOC’s affecting C&A systems.
  • HAZOP and SIL review participation.
  • Reliability assessment and asset replacement recommendations. Author for site’s C&A Obsolescence Plan and Design Philosophy.
  • Provide input to project teams and EPC’s for major projects.
  • Ensure C&A specific Critical Information is updated and in place. Including system drawings, Cause & Effects, Loop Drawings, PLC I/O, Alarm Management Database,and Disaster recovery plans.
  • Programmable equipment configuration software backup management.
  • Alarm management program assurance.
  • Communication Tower Inventory program
  • Assure appropriate system support contracts are in place.
  • Provide input for budget planning.
  • Focal Point for Central C&A group interfacing.
  • Mentor intermediate and junior staff as required.
  • Exemplify a high degree of personal integrity and interpersonal skills and abilities
  • Asset includes 2 small and 2 large gas plants, 300 – 500 MMSCFD gas production, plus 400+ wells.
  • Working conditions:
    • Regular travel to field
    • Some travel to Shell head offices (Calgary, Houston)
    • Some On-Call required
  • Physical Environment: 
    • Field plants, wellsites about 25% of the time
    • Office about 75% of time
    • Wide variation in seasonal temperatures and conditions, cold and snow in winter
    • Driving on highways and gravel roads under sometimes adverse conditions


Requirements:
  • Journeyman Instrument Craftsman - Or equivalent working experience with Control and Automation Systems
  • Knowledge of the following:
    • PLC Systems
    • Instrumentation
    • PI Systems
    • HMI Systems
    • SCADA
  • Analytical and Problem Solving Skills
  • Knowledge of Gas Plant & Field operations
  • Minimum 3 years related control and automation experience, preferably in an Oil and Gas facility.
  • Ability to develop or possessing SAP-PM skills
  • Valid Class 5 Driver's License
