The successful candidate will: • Be adept at sorting, collecting and delivering mail items within their specified route, in a safe and timely manner • Provide and maintain the required vehicle for the route. (See Mandatory Vehicle Requirements below) • Wear Canada Post identification while on delivery and ensure its visibility while delivering and collecting mail from customers • Collect mail from receptacles en route to deliver • Process various forms (Change of Address Notification, Damaged Mail, and others) • Perform vehicle maintenance tasks • Ensure mail is safely secured in their possession • Collect money for CODs • Lift and carry items up to 66 lb/30 kg • Obtain and maintain automobile liability insurance of not less than $1,000,000 • Maintain a satisfactory safe driving record • Be available to cover off absence’s and vacations for Rural and Suburban Mail Carriers • Perform all other duties as required
Job requirements (Education and Work experience): • Grade 10 or Secondary 4 • Enjoying working with the public • Experience in making deliveries and operating a motor vehicle in all kinds of weather and traffic conditions • Ability to lift and carry heavy items (up to 66 lbs / 30 kilograms) • Ability to organize material for delivery • Ability to maintain records and prepare routine reports • Good communication Skills • Must be able to obtain and maintain automobile insurance liability of not less than $1,000,000. • Must have a satisfactory safe driving record • Must have held for the past 2 years a valid permanent provincial driver's license. • Must be able to provide a vehicle that meets with the MANDATORY VEHICLE requirements outlined below

Other information about this job: MANDATORY VEHICLE REQUIREMENTS: • A minimum cargo space allowance of 100 cubic feet; (*Note – If you provide a vehicle with less than 100 cubic feet you will not be compensated for any additional trips required as a result thereof) • No significant obstruction between the driver and passenger seats that would inhibit accessing the passenger side window to deliver to rural mailboxes, such as storage compartments, emergency brakes and manual transmission shifts; • Power windows; and • A metal roof-top • Accessory power outlet to accommodate a Canada Post sign and flashing light.
