Desktop Support Engineer

A multination software compnay required
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Troubleshoot, resolve and escalate user requests as required.
Exercise judgment within defined processes and practices to provide
operational support.
Devise unique solutions to troubleshooting when accepted processes
are not working.
Ensure all projects adhere to GIT's standards and strategies, and
work with other Global IT teams when required
Engineer may work on assignments, which require independent thinking,
unique solutions, and are fairly complex.
Provide remote user support to Middle East and African Operations
countries besides the local support


QUALIFICATIONS:

Applicant must be fluent in written and spoken English. French
(preferably)
Ability to work in a multinational company
Must have 2+ years of desktop support experience
Must have strong experience with Windows XP
Must have strong skills with desktop applications such as Microsoft
Office
Certifications are not required but are a big plus (MCSE)
Self-directing, self-motivating individual with ability to analyze
data and select a course of action within defined processes and
procedures
Demonstrated problem solving skills
Friendly, professional and thorough approach
Excellent verbal/written communication skills
Applicant must be service oriented and very attentive and responsive
to user needs, as this is primarily a customer care job
Netscape 7.2 (Troubleshoot mail browser issues)
Outlook 2000
Mozilla Thunderbird mail (Troubleshoot mail issues)
Mozilla Firfox browser (Troubleshoot browser issues)
MS Office 2000
Cisco VPN client
Windows XP / 2000 troubleshooting
Resolve printing issues
Symantec antivirus / spyware removal
Symantec ghost
Symantec PCanywhere
Resolve network connectivity issues
Bit of vendor management arrange laptop repairs (Dell/Toshiba)
Occasionally resolve wireless network issues
Data recovery / backups
Minor things like Winzip/FTP software/ CD/DVD burning software
