Senior Technical Writer

Reporting to a Documentation Lead, the Senior Writer designs, develops, and delivers complex technical documentation to support the products of Innovatia clients. The Senior Technical Writer researches and analyzes technical products in consultation with development engineers to author technical documentation including user guides, installation guides, help files, reference guides etc.
Ideal Candidate
Possesses a technical background with experience in telecommunications, data networking, and internet applications
Can demonstrate a proven record for on-time delivery
Has experience in planning and developing technical documents in an Agile environment
Has experience in an XML authoring environment
Must work proactively and independently
Responsibilities
Participate in reviews of authored content and respond in a timely manner with corrections
Work closely with team members and subject matter experts to share information and ensure technical and visual consistency across multiple document suites
Manage multiple documents and delivery schedules in a dynamic environment
Proof printed documentation prior to distribution to customers
Required Skill Set
Strong customer-facing written and verbal communication skills
Experience facilitating review processes and gaining consensus quickly
Daily interaction with customers and SMEs, managing outcomes to negotiate a win-win for all involved
Experience with structured authoring
Familiar with and experienced with DITA
Experience developing and enforcing quality control and writing standards
Comfortable with software applications and technology in general, especially database concepts
Excellent writing in North American English
Proficiency in FrameMaker, Adobe Acrobat, and a variety of PC tools and applications
Experience with aggressive schedules and deadlines that change in scope
Ability to work under pressure and meet aggressive timelines
Ability to lead and mentor others
Understand highly technical and/or incomplete product specifications
Simplify and explain complex topics and identify and communicate problems
Determine risk and mitigation and advise Project Manager of same
Post secondary education required
