Note: Applicants who reside within a 50 km radius of work location are preferred

The successful candidate will:
• Collect, sort, and deliver mail items
• Operate portable communication devices
• Load/unload a Postal Vehicle
• Acquire money’s for C.O.D. and signatures for registered mail items
• Complete reports and documentation
• Communicate with customers and the general public
• Present Canada Post in a professional manner
• Maintain and safe guard all mail items and Canada Post property
• Operate a Canada Post Vehicle
• Maintain a satisfactory safe driving record and the appropriate class of provincial driver’s license
• Lift mail items weighing up to 22.7 kilograms (50 pounds) and carry mail items weighing up to 15.9 kilograms (35 pounds)

Job requirements (Education and Work experience):
• Must possess a valid Class 5 or Class G permanent provincial driver’s license.
• For the past 3 years held a satisfactory safe driving record (Driver’s abstract)
• Experience in customer service is an asset
• Experience in a delivery and/or driving role is an asset

The successful candidate will:

• Track selection process from start to finish within specified corporate systems.

• Calculate unionized employee salaries in accordance with compensation policies and collective agreements, advise new employees on conditions of employment.
• Communicate professionally with candidates in difficult and complex situations and resolve conflicts in order to minimize risks to the corporation that could give rise to court actions or grievances.

Job requirements (Education and Work experience):

The successful candidate will:
• Supervise the operation of an assigned area of the shift or section, assist in the management of the efficient manual and machine processing of mail, set daily priorities for the assigned area to ensure that deadlines and service commitments are met, assign and confirm available staff to different areas of the operation according to fluctuating mail volume, and request additional manpower or equipment as required
• Promote and implement workplace safety and health programs for the work unit including: coaching and directing employees on safe work practices in order to reduce accident frequency and severity; conducting investigations and reporting and following up on accident incidences; addressing and resolving health and safety issues in a timely and efficient manner; conducting safety inspections and taking corrective action to rectify unsafe operating conditions; and overseeing the return-to-work and accommodation of employees unable to perform the full range of duties in their job
• Supervise, coach and provide guidance and leadership to employees, promote a respectful environment in the workplace, administer human resources processes such as staffing, performance management, disability management and attendance management, resolve staff issues including taking disciplinary action if required, consult with Labour Relations and/or union representatives on the application of the terms of the collective agreement, and create learning and knowledge transfer opportunities for assigned staff
